Homeowners Coverage Basics

Homeowners Insurance typically includes property coverage for your home and personal property, as well as personal liability protection.  While many standard policies include similar features, there are actually more options and differences than some people might realize.  We’ve included a comparison chart for some common policy types and our agents are standing by to help you get the most coverage for your money.

Perils, Limits, and, Values

As is with all insurance, it’s important to understand what events are covered.  Comprehensive includes the most coverage because everything is covered that isn’t specifically excluded.  A ‘named perils’ policy is the opposite.  If it’s not listed (fire, wind, hail, lightning, etc.), it’s not covered.  Some policies have more generous limits so you pay for one amount, but actually get coverage for a bigger amount.  It’s also important to understand which items are valued with depreciation (actual cash value) and which coverage includes replacement cost so you can get brand new items of equal kind and quality.

Our agents in Mooresville can help you navigate these Homeowners Insurance issues and help you know what you’re paying for.  Once you’ve received your quotes online or by phone, take a minute to get real advice by one of our licensed professionals.  We’re here to help!
